If you qualified for the JEE mains despite not receiving good marks, and if you did, you scored well in the JEE advanced. Then you have a chance of getting into IITs because only seats at IIITs, NITs, GFTIs, and private universities are determined by JEE mains scores, whereas IIT seats are determined by JEE advanced scores.
In fact, I can serve as a good illustration of this scenario since I recently passed the JEE Mains and made the decision to do well in the JEE Advanced.
