Hello there,
See as per your query, it is to be made clear that the concept of JEE is one year one admission. Which means, that if you give/qualify for JEE this year, then you will be eligible to take admission into NIT/GFTI/IIITs in this year only.
Now if you take admission into any other college and next year you want to take admission into NIT then you have to appear and qualify for the JEE Main examination next year again.(maximum 3 attempts )

Good Luck!
In jee mains there are maximum of three attempts allowed to each candidate. First attempt is said to be over in your class 12th passing year ( and it doesn't matters that you have given jee mains or not).
Your second attempt is counted over if you give the jee mains to your next consecutive year after your class 12th passing year ( still if you don't give jee mains in your second attempt then also it is said second attempt over).
And third attempt is said to over when you give jee mains in the alternate year of your class 12th passing year.
So if you take college this year, and your attempts are not over then you can give jee mains again and if you have still one or two year left counting from your class 12th passing year then yes you can give jee mains again and secure a good rank to get nits.
