Can i change my branch from diploma in mechanical engineering to btech in computer science engineering through lateral entry?

Hi Preeti,
To the extent of my knowledge the eligibility criteria for Lateral entry in most of the colleges is that you must have a diploma with minimum percentage criteria which might vary from college to college but i think there is no restriction on change of branch but there can be such criteria due to the reason that after a diploma in a field it won't be useful to switch branches.
