Hi aspirant,

The counselling process in Vellore institute of technology is a bit complex. In Phase 1, rank holders between 1-20000 are called where candidate is given chance to choose his/her prefered branch in order of their ranks.

Now if your prefered branch under first category is filled before your chance comes, then you can't opt for that branch under second category till the next phase. You can choose any other branches available or appear for next phase when scheduled.

Note- There can be a change in this format this year as candidates will be allowed to choose maximum 25 options of their preferences during choice filling.

Hope it helps!!
