Can I get free admission in IIT or NIT?

- You have to appear in JEE Mains examination conducted by National Testing Agency ( NTA ) to take admission into Engineering programs in various IITs, NITs, CFTIs and other renowned institutions.
- You have to appear in JEE Advanced examinatioin organized by the Seven Zonal Coordinating IIT’s under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) to take admission in in Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s or Bachelor’s Master dual degree course in the IITs.
FEE WAIVERS SCHEME :
- 100% Tuition Fee waiver for SC/ST/PH students.
- Full remission of the Tuition Fee for General and OBC students whose family income is less than Rs.1 lakh per annum.
- Remission of 2/3rd of the Tuition Fee for General and OBC students whose family income is between Rs.1 lakh to Rs.5 lakh per annum.

Yes, if you or your parents are not able to pay the fees. This is the fee waiver scheme in IIT's as well as NIT's. Through this, students who are economically and socially backward get a relief in tution fees. They don't have to pay tution fees. Also, students having parents income less than one lakh get full remission in fees. But, it's not absolutely free, it will charge you for sure.
