Now to answer your question, Yes you are eligible for b.tech in aeronautical engineering after your diploma in mechanical engineering. You are eligible for lateral entry in second year of B.E/Tech. Diploma holders can acquire degrees on clearing the exams of the Aeronautical Society of India.

If you have Diploma in Mechanical Engineering then you are eligible for admission in B.Tech aeronautical engineering.if you have passed with first class in your diploma then you are also eigible for a lateral entry or direct second year admission in B.Tech aeronautical engineering.
Some universities like manipal just need three year diploma. If you have that you can join any of the course that university offers.
