Now to answer your question, Yes you are eligible for b.tech  in aeronautical engineering after your diploma in mechanical engineering. You are eligible for lateral entry in second year of B.E/Tech. Diploma holders can acquire degrees on clearing the exams of the Aeronautical Society of India.

You can pursue Aeronautical engineering provided you have to clear your CET with good score. You will get admission in second year. The diploma holders are given option to get lateral entry in engineering course .Many engineering colleges in India reserve some seats to give direct lateral entry to the diploma students. Most of the engineering colleges especially in India reserve 10 percent seats for the lateral entry. However there may be some differences which differ from  college to college.

Yes, you can take the admission for Aeronautical engineering after completing diploma in mechanical engineering.



But, my sincere suggestion is to continue in mechanical engineering because it has a huge opportunities and wide scope in future.Here you can also go with Aeronautical engineering after completion of diploma.

If you have Diploma in Mechanical Engineering then you are eligible for admission in B.Tech aeronautical engineering.if you have passed with first class in your diploma then you are also eigible for a lateral entry or direct second year admission in B.Tech aeronautical engineering.

Some universities like manipal just need three year diploma. If you have that you can join any of the course that university offers.

Eligibility criteria :

• Candidate should have passed 10+2(Physics, Chemistry, Maths) or Equivalent from a recognised Board or University.
• Candidate age should be less than 24 years at the time of admission.
• He should be physically fit. No defect in colour or night vision is acceptable. Spectacles are acceptable
