The State Services officer( Group-1 officers) are also eligible to become CONFERRED IAS OFFICERS.
The State Administrative Service personnel who belong to Group-1, which includes Revenue and non-Revenue officers, are chosen to become Conferred IAS or Promotee IAS.
The SELECTION COMMITTEE, which is headed by the UPSC Chairman or one of its members, will choose the IAS officers who have been conferred based on a set of qualifying requirements from a seniority list that is annually compiled by the relevant State Government. The same as with Direct Recruited IAS, the UPSC will grant the conferred IAS officers a Batch year.
The state's overall awarded IAS cadre strength may not be greater than 33% of the total IAS strength.
Their career path is as follows: Joint Collector --- Collector----DM-Secretary--- Principal Secretary. Those who are chosen as deputy collectors between the ages of 21 and 24 can advance to the state's Principal Secretary Cadre after receiving the IAS designation after 10 to 12 years.
In simple, through upsc you can become ias in small time but through group 1 , it takes lot pf years to reach that post.
