Yes you can appear for both the exams,there is no harm in taking both the exams.
It will prepare you for your next exam,you can get a good marks in second attempt.

You will give both JEE Mains Exam. The best score out of the two Exam will be counted as your final score & accordingly if you qualify the Cutoff, you will give JEE Advance & according to the best score only out of the two you will get college in case you didn't qualify JEE Advance.
