You can go for self study if you can manage on your own for this it's essential to have self-discipline, if you don't inculcate this then the journey and preparation process ahead will become tough, if you are dedicated, consistent and focused then giving three to four months would suffice, to start off you need to be well-acquainted with the exam, to provide you a brief regarding this-
CAT is to be conducted for three hours, divided into three sections with a total of 76 questions, VARC and QA will have 26 questions each, and DILR will have 24 questions( a total of 54 MCQs and 22 non-MCQs), 40 minutes will be allotted for each section, total marks allotted is 228 marks, for each correct answer three marks are to be awarded, and for each wrong answer in MCQs one mark is to be deduced, in case of non-mcqs there is no negative marking.
In order to initiate preparation for CAT, you need to be well acquainted with the syllabus of three sections with its respective syllabus and recommended books are as follows-
