Hello candidate,

A dipole refers to a connection of two charged particles of opposite nature in a same material search that attracts opposite charges from both it's ends.

The expression for potential energy in a dipole is given as- Potential Energy =−pEcosθ=−p⋅E. This is negative when θ is acute and positive when θ is obtuse, and it is a scalar product of dipole moment X electric field.

Hope it helps you. Have a good day!!
