Difference between PGDM and MBA
Dear Harsha,
Both the courses teaches about management and leadership, but there is a little difference.
PGDM-
- 1 year course.
- PGDM stands for Post Graduate Diploma in Management, it is a diploma course.
- PGDM focuses on the technical aspects, providing exposure to real-life business situations.
MBA-
- 2 years' course.
- Master of Business Administration is a post graduate degree.
- MBA course is more theoretical.
However, both MBA and PGDM courses are regarded as having equal value when it comes to career prospects.
Hope it helps.
Good Luck.
The major diffrence between PGDM and MBA are:
- PGDM is offered by Autonomous colleges whereas MBA is offered by colleges that are affiliated by universities.
- Colleges offering PGDM courses needs to be accredited by AICTE. In case of MBA, the colleges are affiliated to an University and Universities are controlled by University Grants Commission (UGC) and the colleges may also get accredited by AICTE.
- PGDM can be more expensive than MBA.
- PGDM syllabus can be flexible , the college decides it, university doesn"t bound on it, where as in MBA syllabus is decided by universities.
However, in case of MBA and PGDM the institutional value is supreme important, So opt for reputed managment institutions.
