yes it definitely will affect and you will not get your passport. You should have same name on all your ID proofs if you are especially going for education abroad.

You can have your name changed on adhaar card. I myself had two different surnames but because you cannot make modifications in your 10th cbse memo now and even if you do, you really do have to go through a long procedure and it isn't that easy, you ll have to change your name on adhaar card. It will take a while but it will get done and is easier than changing your name on cbse memo.

Your VISA will get rejected if the same name wouldn't be there.

I too have different surname from my family now because of this confusion. But that won't be a problem at all if you go abroad. They are only concerned with everything to be real and not fake. They just want to make sure that they are not giving permission to anyone who is with fake identity or who is going to settle there illegally.

Arushi Goyal My question is, the most Southern States in India, people normally known by their family name but not Surname like other Northern States. Now the problem is the young generation who have born and brought in Metropolitan Cities facing the problem due to this as their Adhar Card/PAN Card/Bank account etc. does not match the name constraint in the Passport which may cause their future academic carrier while adopting for their higher studies in abroad. While applying for Passport, it is mandatory to fill the Colum with expanding name( Not the abbreviated name i.e; K or R). as middle name. This has become hindrance to the student, choosing higher education at Universities in USA,Canada,Australia even in EU Countries. The countries in middle east has realized this issue and have been given permission to the people for their job Visa since so many decades. I seek your suggestions in this matter.
