Question : Directions: In the following question below are given some statements followed by some conclusions based on those statements. Taking the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Read all the conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows the given statements.
Statements:
I. All red are birds.
II. All birds are dogs.
Conclusion:
I. Some birds are dogs.
II. Some dogs are not red.

Option 1: Only conclusion II follows

Option 2: Both conclusions I and II follows

Option 3: Only conclusion I follows

Option 4: Neither conclusion follows

Solution : According to the statements, the Venn diagram is given below –



Let's analyse the conclusions –
Conclusion (I): Some birds are dogs – From the above diagram, it is clear that all birds are dogs as a circle of birds is overlapped by the circle of the dogs. If all birds are dog is correct it's obvious that some birds are dog is also correct. So, this conclusion follows.
Conclusion (II): Some dogs are not red – From the above diagram, it is clear that some dogs are red but it's not mentioned anywhere that some dogs are not red and we can't follow any negative conclusion from the positive statement. So, this conclusion doesn't follow.

So, only the conclusion I follow. Hence, the fourth option is correct.
