Dear student,
Let me clear you the meaning of float option.
FLOAT - It means that you have accepted the alloted seat but you want a higher preference branch in different institutes. And if in further rounds you get any higher upgraded branch then you will take that seat by forfeiting the previous seat. In case if you not get any seat in float option, then also your previously alloted seat will remain with you.
So, there is no disadvantages of float.
Now, coming on to the reporting centres, then this year the reporting will be done online. When you got alloted any seat and if you accept it then you will have the option to freeze /float/ slide.
If you choose float or slide or freeze then you have to pay the seat acceptance fees and upload the documents online for verification within the given time. Otherwise your seat will be cancelled.
After uploading the documents it will be verified online by the verifying officers. And they may raise queries as per your uploaded documents, and you must have to reply the queries within the given time, otherwise your seat may be cancelled.
In the subsequent rounds, if you have chosen FLOAT option then you have to check your account for any upgradation in your allotmet.
