Explain metastasis covered in Chapter 8 of NCERT Solutions for Class 12 Biology.
Malignant tumours exhibit the pathological process of metastasis. This process involves the cancerous cells spreading to various body parts and dividing uncontrollably to form a mass of cells known as a tumour. Some of these tumour cells are able to shed off and make their way into the bloodstream, where they travel to far-off areas of the body, where they begin to actively divide and start new tumours.
