For NIT surtkal admission mainly you to qualify the JEE mains examination and also you have to get atleast 75% marks . and in 12th class you to maintain top 20 percentile in you board examination and you to studied physics and mathematics that is mandatory,and one of the subject in 1)chemistry2) biotechnology 3)biology4) technical vocational subjects. Eligibility criteria for the B. Tech courses offered by NIT Surathkal :-
Candidate needs to qualify the JEE main examination to be eligible for admission to NIT Surathkal.
The Candidate must have scored at least 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) in Class 12 or be in the top 20 percentile in his/her respective board.
The candidates must have studied Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects and any one of Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/Technical Vocational subjects.
Admissions to NIT Surathkal are granted on the basis of a candidate’s rank in the JEE (Main) examination.

Your chances of getting into an NIT depends on the trends of the current year, the cutoff varies from year to year due to various factors like number of students attempting the exam, paper difficulty etc.It depends on your rank rather than the score. Usually, a score of 180 and above would suffice to join NITK.
