The GK section of CLAT holds 25% weightage in the exam . It includes approximately 35-39 questions . This section is actually divided into 2 parts which are -

  • Static GK: Includes already occurred important events of the past
  • Current Affairs: Includes the current happening important events

For the static GK part , covering all the events of past is almost impossible therefore try to focus on these domains -

  1. Indian history(medieval and modern)
  2. Indian polity(acts,amendments,articles etc.)
  3. Basic science
  4. Indian geography
  5. World history (important wars, treaties etc.)
  6. World geography
  7. Countries:capitals and currencies
  8. Census data
  9. Economics(macro)
  10. Environment
  11. Indian history(medieval and modern)
  12. Indian polity(acts,amendments,articles etc.)
  13. Basic science
  14. Indian geography
  15. World history (important wars, treaties etc.)
  16. World geography
  17. Countries:capitals and currencies
  18. Census data
  19. Economics(macro)
  20. Environment

For the current affairs part you have to stay regularly updated by reading newspapers and watching news channels . Online websites like The wire , Hindu , Live Mint etc can be useful as well . For easy learning you can even get assistance from several YouTube channels which update students with daily current affairs along with important notes .

The preparation of this section at first appears to be difficult . But trust me this is known as the " make it or break it " section . This is the section which takes minimum time for attempting and provides highest accuracy because you either know the answers or not .

You can improve this section by attempting mock tests as well . All the best for your preparation !
