see even if you have backlog paper you may appear in gate exam which would held on the month of february in 2022, results will be generally declared on may. so once gate results declares admission to m.tech courses and psus hiring start accordingly, so as per previous years records, you must have your backlog papers cleared on or before the commencement of m.tech admissions or hiring which generally starts from june or july first.

now see gate score is valid for three years, so even if it may not possible for you to enroll for higher study this year because of the backlog papers, you may use 2022 year gate score for admission to 2023, 2024 m.tech program also.
