Hello Sourav!
There are in total just 3 entrance exams that are held in India for admission into medical colleges. The major one is NEET whose scores are used to get admission into all medical colleges except AIIMS & JIPMER.
NEET tests the student on three subjects: Biology, Chemistry & Physics. The syllabus is same as that of classes XI & XII, as prescribed by CBSE. It is generally advised that the students enroll themselves in coaching institutes, which majority of aspirants do, although it isn't necessary. Students can also self- prepare but in that case it is advisable that they buy all the important books required for preparation. Arihant and MTG publications are very popular amongst students.
A student has to be very consistent in order to score high marks in the exam. Proper grasp on concepts is highly required along with daily practice of MCQs.
All of the three subjects should be prepared by referring to competitive exam preparation books especially Physics. For Biology & Chemistry, do study NCERT thoroughly as 95% of the questions in Biology are directly from NCERT (exact copied lines from the book come in the question paper) and theoretical questions of Chemistry are mostly from NCERT. Infact, few times in-text or back-exercise questions have come exactly as it is in the question paper. This is not the same for Physics. While, the concepts and syllabus are similar to NCERT, the questions are very different. So for Physics, refer to books that are absolutely NEET oriented. Daily practice of MCQs is highly recommended as finally, that is what the candidates will be dealing with and therfore, they should know how to eliminate options, how to not get confused between two similar options, how to be careful and not choose the incorrect option out of two similar options, how to not not choose the option that is SEEMINGLY correct over what is ACTUALLY correct. PRACTICE PREVIOUS YEAR QUESTION PAPERS.
AIIMS is the entrance test for admission into AIIMS Delhi and 14 other AIIMS in all over India. The exam consists of four sections: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and G.K. and Aptitude. The syllabus of AIIMS is same as that of NEET, but the question patterns vary greatly. The level of difficulty of AIIMS is more. All of the three subjects are largely derived from NCERT. In Physics and Chemistry, exercise questions from NCERT must be practised well. Also, for Physics and Physical Chemistry, high-level difficulty questions should be practised. Along with MCQs, Assertion and Reason type questions are also asked in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Therefore, special practise should be done for them.
JIPMER is the entrance test for admission into JIPMER, Pondicherry nd JIPMER, Karaikal. The exam consists of four sections: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English Language and Comprehension and Logical and Quantitaive Reasoning. The syllabus of JIPMER is same as that of NEET. But the question patterns vary greatly. Questions are more factual. Students need to prepare outside NCERT books.
Hope this helps you! For further help, do ask questions.
For medical entrance, the portions from 11th and 12th is immensely helpful. So, you will have to pay extra attention to what you are taught in the coming 2 years. This is not all though. You will have to have a deeper understanding of the said topics and you should also be able to excel both in theoretical and application level questions.
For medical entrances, the marks you acquire for Physics, Chemistry and Biology are greatly considered and as such you should give more importance to these and try to score a minimum of 50% in each of these subjects individually. You should also be able to get a minimum total aggregate of 50% as well.
Entrance coaching centres can be of help as well if you are in need of external assistance. Doing practice papers, mock exams and previous year question papers could also do you good.
I hope this was of help. All the best!!!
