if you score less than 60 % in the optional subject than it will not affect. in case the sum of pcb and english marks less than 60 % than you can not get admission. in this term, each subject 60% is not a requirement. link for more details https://medicine.careers360.com/articles/aiims-mbbs-eligibility-criteria

Hey aspirant ,

Good to know you sound interested for AIIMS . For getting admission into AIIMS , you have to filter through the entrance examination first , upon qualifying which will secure you a seat in the colleges under AIIMS . Here is the eligibility criteria for the same

  • The candidate must have completed 10+2 with PCB as main subjects along with English .
  • The minimum marks for general and OBC category is 60% aggregate , for SC/ST candidate it is 50% aggregate and for PwD candidate it is 45% aggregate .
  • Lower age limit should be 17 years .
  • Under reservation , 15% seats are reserved for SC category and 7.5 for those of ST category . And for those belonging to OBC , 27% reservation is provided .
As per your query , you are eligible for the entrance test , provided you pass all the subjects . But getting seat in a college gets decided by your merit in the entrance exam . In case of qualifying examination , the candidate can appear for the examination but latter upon clearing the exam , he or she has to produce the evidences of clearing the subjects with minimum score requirements .

The question paper will have 60 questions each from biology , physics and chemistry respectively . Apart from this 10 number of questions under general apptitude and 10 number of questions under logical thinking . So apart from the general academics you have to have knowledge on various field , general issues and aptitude . AIIMS practice papers are also available that will give you a wide idea before you sit to appear for the final examination . Try to finish the practice test within the prescribed time i.e. 3 and half hours .

I hope the above information has been helpful for you and your query , for any further information on any of the above explained issues feel free to contact me in the comment section below .

All the best ,

Thank you .
