Hii,i have done graduation in arts and +2 in pcm.Can i apply for gate in engineering subject papers ,since they are allowing two subject papers to choose?

Dear Aspirant,

For the first time, Arts and Commerce students can appear for GATE examination. IIT Bombay shall be conducting GATE 2021 and has introduced Humanities and social science paper or GATE XH paper. The Arts and Commerce students can only apply for their subjects available in the GATE examination.

The GATE XH paper shall contain common aptitude, reasoning as well as some comprehension. These topics shall be compulsory which means candidates should cover these topics in order to be able to score in these areas. The remaining portion of the paper shall depend upon which topic of humanities/social science you choose to appear for in the GATE EXAMINATION. The subjects available for arts and commerce students are English, Linguistics, Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy and Economics. You need to pick up from these subjects and see that which subject you studied in graduation.

As far as appearing for Engineering papers is concerned, only those candidates can apply for engineering papers who have graduated from an engineering institute and have a degree in a particular engineering discipline or are final year engineering students or are pre-final year engineering students.

as per the report off TOI, students from commerce and arts background, too, can opt for GATE 2021 (february) that IIT-Bombay will conduct. The eligibility criteria, too, has been modified from 10+2+4 to 10+2+3, enabling students in their third year of undergraduate studies to appear for the exam
