NIT's and IIIT's have allotted seats for NRI's and Children of Indians Working in Gulf (CIWG) under DASA (Direct Admission of Students Abroad). The candidates are selected on the basis of their SAT scores.
ELECTRONICS and COMMUNICATION ENGG.
In the NITs there are 261 seats, there are 174 seats under the NRI quota and 87 under the CIWG category. Among the IIITs we have data from three of them mentioned above, IIIT Allahabad has five seats in all (4 NRI, 1 CIWG), while that in IIIT D&M is four (3 NRI, 1 CIWG).
MECHANICAL ENGG.
There are a total of 346 seats reserved for NRI and CIWG candidates out of this 112 seats are exclusively meant for CIWG children.
COMPUTER SCIENCE ENGG.
There are 259 seats at the undergraduate level of which 175 seats are under the NRI category and 84 seats under the CIWG. Among the IIITs, IIIT D&M has four seats in all, three under the NRI quota and one under the CIWG.
CIVIL ENGG.
In NITs there 233 seats reserved for NRI and CIWG candidates of this, there are 156 seats reserved under the NRI quota, 77 under the CIWG.
There is DASA (DIRECT ADMISSION OF STUDENT ABROAD) to get admission in NIT
ELIGIBILITY:
Students must be foreign nationals/ Person of Indian Origin studying in any country.
Only students born or after October 01, 1994 are eligible.
Senior secondary education [10+2] only are eligible.
