Hello Ayush,
National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management , Sonepat, has been set up by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. The university offers various courses like B.Tech., M.Tech., MBA and Ph.D. program in various specializations.Candidates seeking admission in B.Tech course must have passed 10+2 examination from any stream.Selection to B.Tech is done on the basis of JEE Main score followed by Online Counseling conducted by NIFTEM. The last date to fill the application form was 20th June and the counselling process has already started from 27th June.
Good Luck!
NIFTEM is a pretty good choice for a student interested in chemistry and biology. The curriculum is very unique (its pretty tough too with both engineering as well as management courses), is industry oriented and the college itself is formed on demand from industry. Career wise, u wont regret as food industry(growing at around 15-18%) will never go down like the IT does, the primary point being your chances of getting sacked just coz of an inflation is minimal. Placements are coming real good with major companies (Nestle, Pepsico, ITC, TUV SUD, Dabur are a few) coming for recruitment. NIFTEM is a newbie and as of now research projects are just taking off. This is an advantage too, because there are more funds to support ur research and a well-backed faculty dept and administration. Apart from academics, u get state of the art infrastructure facilities(Internet speed of 1 gbps is one example). Only negative i would say is the campus life is still building up and the liveliness that you find in an old institute is yet to be attained. Apart from that, I would suggest you NIFTEM if you ask me because NIFTEM is just about to spread its wings.
