how I can apply for m-phil or phd in philosophy?
Hi,
PhD programmes in USA are usually financially supported and give great access to interdisciplinary education. The First two years involve coursework and only after its evaluation do candidates move up to Phd Candidacy. It takes roughly two to three years to complete the degree. The whole purpose of the degree will be to inculcate research as well as teaching ability in your field so that you become a scholar in the same. Therefore, admissions for PhD in USA could be highly competitive.
For starters you can directly email professors with whom you want to work or whose research interests align with yours. In Columbia University, you get the Mphil and PhD degree sequentially. As for the admission requirements, student must submit one transcript showing courses and grades per school attended, a statement of academic purpose, a writing sample on a philosophical topic (a course paper, term paper, etc.), and three letters of evaluation from academic sources.Applicants whose native language is not English or whose undergraduate degree is from an institution in a country whose official language is not English have to give TOEFL.
There are some courses offered by universities in UK, Switzerland and Germany which you can also explore.
All the best!!
