How is industrial design in nit rourkela
Hi dear,
Hope you are doing well!
Now let's go through your question.
Definitely it will be a good choice if you want to pursue ID from NIT-R as it is one of the best NIT of the nation with some extremely well qualified faculties.
Now let's go to the placement scenario of ID:
If you have prepared for CAT and Analytics tests, target companies like Affine Analytics, ZS associates, Mu Sigma and a few other analytics companies. (4-6 lpa).
If you are really good at mechanical, you have a slight chance of cracking core mechanical companies like honda, 3dplm, thermax, etc (I say slight chance because most of the time INDians are not allowed to sit for mech companies because their curriculum is incomplete for mechanical profile) ( 4 - 7 lpa).
If you are good at design and has a decent portfolio newgen is the company for you, they hire ui/ux designers. They look for good sense for design and logical creativity in a candidate. (5-6 lpa).
Thank You & All the best!
Hey!
If you want to pursue industrial design from NIT rourkela , it is not a bad option but the best option is to go for higher studies or do internships and learn practically important stuff, ID curriculm's theory are insufficient to crack industrial design jobs. You can also get jobs after graduation but the packages will not be more than 3-4 lpa.

Hello Harshita,
Looking from the placement perspective, getting a good pointer will allow you to get a fair chance at securing a job however since this is India, there's a specific company sentiment of chosing mechanical over production and industrial design which is weird given the fact that production and industrial design are much more core branches. The same issue lies with choosing electronics and communication over electronics. Core branches do not get much spotlight here in India so further studies and applying abroad for jobs could be a good option for you. As for the subjects faculty no need to worry about that it's nit rourkela they won't disappoint you.
All the best
