I am a Psychologist and am writing this answer in the same capacity. Well, it takes real heart to think about the financial burden of the parents. I really appreciate you for that. A seat in MayoInstitute of Medical Sciences comes with a total fees of 61.52 lakhs which is a rough estimate of 12-13 lakhs per annum. It was established 7 years ago and the infrastructure, faculty and aminities are good. Educational loans have become more feasible now. You only have tonpay the Principal amount until you get a job and then start paying towards the Principal once you get a job. So it is a win win situation. Am sure 3 years of hardwork means a lot of blood and sweat. But at times, destiny and life have different plans for us. May be you are putting too much pressure on yourself that you are faltering at the exam hall. This will not help you even if you take a straight 4th year drop. It only complicates your situation further. Personally, I would suggest you to go along with your parent's plan and join a Private Medical College. But before that promise yourself that you will work hard for the next 5 and 1/2 years and give your parents the happiness they deserve. Again, its your choice to take. Whatever you do, make sure you have no regrets later. Good luck!

Thank you for answering me ma'am. Many people, councellors have told me that just and MBBS degree won't fetch me a job good enough to repay my dept and for PG I may (or may not) require for more and this is what scares me. Moreover somewhere deep down I feel that I could have got a better college, a college that won't be a burden to my parents if I hadn't made those mistakes so I feel maybe I should give it a last chance. I know takeing a drop for the 4th years is downright crazy but it's the feeling that I could have done way better and that I'm yet to do my best is not letting me let go of this.
What peoplw tell you is different from what the truth is. Gone are the days when a MBBS graduate has to onlybwork as a Doctor. Now even MNC's are hiring MBBS Doctors for their Health Care Projects. These projects allow you to travel round the world. You can join the field of Research. I know that the amount that costs you is too huge a burden. Dont look it as an Investment. Rather look it as a trust your parents have in you. The moment you consider this as an Investment, you tend to think about Return of Investment (ROI) which is brutal. You dont consider Education as an entity in which you can invest and wait for the returns. Thats not correct. Agreed that money is what pays bills but that shouldnt be the reason why you pursue something. Instead remember that it is your parents' dream. Every day you will be more responsible. MBBS is not a regular course. Its a professional course. Working memory is what helps you in your PG if you want to succeed. You study Anatomy and dont put it to use, ofcourse its not going to help you. Ypu work everyday and so it helps you in remembering about human anatomy.
