Approximately, 3 lakh candidates appear in UPSC Civil Services examination. The figure is more or less same in State level PSC exams too.

It would be difficult to tell you exactly as the number varies. Civil Services examination is conducted for recruitment of candidates to Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service, Indian Revenue Service (IRS).
Around 3 lakhs students appeared for the prelims exam in 2018.
UPSC will conduct the mains examination of UPSC Civil services from September 28 to October 7, 2018 and around 10,460 candidates will appear for the mains examination of IAS.
For state level exams, the number can vary from state to state.
