Hlo Devesh, Now boards marks are not consider for Jee Ranking. If you want to get admission at decent NIT there are many things that play their role to get decent NIT.
1. Caste 2.Home state/other state 3. if two students have same marks than the student who score good in physics get higher rank after that math and chemistry.
1.if you are from general category you need 260+ marks to get good seat at decent NIT I.e at NIT warangal, NIT trichy, IIIT Hyderabad.
2. If you are from OBC category than you need 180+ to get good seat at decent IIIT & NIT.
3. If you are from SC category than you need 160+ to get good seat at decent IIIT & NIT.
If you are from home state that means if you want to get admission in the NIT of your state than you need less marks but if you want to get admission in other state NIT than you need very good rank.
The above marks I told is not totally accurate sometimes if exam is easy and students score very good marks than cutoff and marks will definitely increase . Similarly if exam is tough and students score less marks than cutoff & marks will be definitely decrease.
Best of luck for jee .
Hello Devesh,
Congratulations for your 12th board percentage, but as per the new rules of JEE Mains, 12th board marks are no longer considered, and the selection of your college will completely depend on you JEE Mains rank/marks. So all you need is to work hard for JEE Mains, something around 170+ will fetch you a great college if you are of general category. However, these 12th board marks will be useful at the time of your admission!
Good luck with your exam!
According to new rules of JEE there is no consideration of boards marks. Therefore your ranking will be based on JEE marks. Now the cutoff marks to get a decent seat in good NIT as well as in good IIIT starts from 180+ . Usually if your marks are between 220 - 180 you may get CSE in some reputate NITs/IIITs .
With 87% in boards, you will be needing atleast 200 in JEE mains to get admission in a decent NIT.
