Hello

Admission to NITs is done on the basis of rank secured by the candidate in JEE Main exam. The cutoff required for admission varies every year depending on various factors. Some of the factors that determine the cutoff are as follows:

  • Total number of seats available
  • Difficulty level of exam
  • Previous year cutoff trends
  • Number of candidates appearing for the exam
  • Number of candidates applying for a course

It would be difficult to tell you exactly about the marks required for admission but I can provide you the JEE Main 2019 cutoff for reference and to have an idea about the rank required. JEE Main cutoff for admission to NIT Jalandhar for home state candidates stream wise is as follows-

Biotechnology- 109845
Chemical Engineering- 80428
Civil Engineering- 66379
Computer Science and Engineering- 9385
Electrical Engineering- 36722
Electrical and Communication Engineering- 20933

Do let us know if you have any other queries.

Good Luck!
