Dear Qazi, there are arpund 36,165 Private medical seats and 30,455 Government Medical across India and almost 15 lakh aspirants are competing for these seats. You can do the math for the kind of competition involved. Then there is 27% reservation for OBC, 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST. There is 5% horizontal reservation for PWD candidates. Then there is 15% All India Quota and 85% State Quota. And for General Category to qualify in NEET, you should atleast score 50% of top NEET score. It is 40% for SC, ST, OBC. For example if the top NEET score is 600, a General Category Candidate should score 300 and SC,ST,OBC candidate should score 240. This is only to qualify in NEET. To secure a Medical seat your score should be higher than the cut off. Now cut offs change every year and are dependant on various factors like no.of candidates appearing for NEET exam, no.of seats available, top NEET score, difficulty of the exam and candidate's category. So cut offs are different across the country. What might be a difficult score to get a seat in one State can easily get you a seat in another State. So it is a wide guess to take. On a general note, anything less than 400 is a tough call. If you have any State in particular that you want to know about, please do let us know and we can help you further.
