For admission to IITs the candidate should satisfy at least one of these two criteria:-
He/she is within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in his/her respective Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination.
He/she has secured 75% (for GEN or OBC-NCL) or 70% (SC, ST or PwD) of aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) Board examination.

For open category,A minimum of 75% aggregate marks across 5 subjects namely PCM and two languages, is mandatory to be eligible for JEE advanced, the candidate can also be allowed if he is tiop 20 percentile.
For SC/ST , the criteria is relaxed to 65% percent.
Moreover, to qualify for JEE advanced, ome must have appeared for JEE mains and must be in top 2.24 lakh ranks.

Can you please tell me if you want to know for any specific exam?
Through JEE Main you can take admission in government colleges like NITs/IIITs and CFTIs.
To be eligible for NITs/IIITs and CFTIs you have to score 75% marks in your boards exam or you should be in top 20 percentile. For SC/ST students qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class exam.
To get admission in NITs and other you should score more then 125 marks in general category under other state quota. To get CSE branch in top NITs you have to score more then 230 marks in JEE Main in general category other state quota.
You can also take admission in DTU and NSIT through JEE Main only counseling will be held separately. According, to the eligibility criteria you must have secured at least 60% aggregate marks or more in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Through JEE Main some top private colleges also provide admissions in which 75% criteria is not required.
