For getting a scholarship in MIT the economical income of your family plays a role along with marks. The college has numerous scholarship options such as FFE, AMITHA, etc. If you have done very well in your high school exams ( approx 90% and above, no official percentile is available) but are economically incapable of admission then they provide scholarships. This scholarship is discontinued if you perform poorly in the college. The scholarship depends on both marks and below average family income.
