Of the two exams score, only one exam score which is best is considered. So, you can apply twice for JEE mains within a year. You can apply Thrice, once with your 12th boards, and two more times in next 2 consecutive years.

You can attempt twice a year,in January and April. Since you can give JEE 3 times so that makes it to 6 attempts all together.
