How much question attempt to clear out above 90 percentile ?
To fall in 90+ %tile group you need to score atlest 120–130+ marks
Overall attempt should be 55+ questions with 85–90 % accuracy
3 section
QUANTS - 16+ questions out of 34
VERBAL - 16+ questions out of 34
LRDI - atleast 4 sets out of 8 set (no. Of questions in sets may differ )
So if you attempt 55–60% of total paper with 90%+ accuracy you can even cross 95%tile .
All the best!
If you want to get more than 90percentile. You should attempt overall 48-52 questions (16-17 questions from each section) questions with 90-95% accuracy in CAT Exam.
But let me help you with something . Percentile depends on number of students appearing for the exam, level of difficulty of the exam and number of questions attempted by the students .
If level of exam is very hard you can get more than 90% even after attempt 38-42 questions (14-15 questions from each section) with more than 90% accuracy.
In case level of exam is easy , then you need to attempt more questions around 55-58 questions (19-20 questions from each section) with more than 90% accuracy.
Thank you !
All the best !!
Hi Anany, in order to achieve 90 percentile, you need to answer at least 15-20 questions from each of the three sections accurately. CAT carries negative marking for the MCQ which will make you lose 1 mark for each wrong answer. Therefore, study well and attempt the questions correctly.
All the best!
