How the gate exam helps the engg students?

Many public sector undertakings such as BHEL, Indian Oil Corporation, NTPC, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (there are PSUs totalling 217 in number) are using the GATE score for selecting candidates for their organisations. Students who qualify in GATE are entitled to a stipend of Rs 8,000 per month during their M.Tech course. A GATE score definitely gives one an edge when it comes to joining reputed companies as well as off-campus recruitments. For those who couldnt pursue their BTech in IIT, it provides another opportunity to study in the prestigious IITs. GATE is an important examination for any engineer. For an Electrical Engineer:
a) It gives you another opportunity to get an admission to IIT (in case one missed it during IIT-JEE).
