Eligibility for Commercial Pilot
It costs around 45 to 60 lakhs to become a commercial pilot in India. This cost may go as high as 75 lakhs. The lump sum break up is around 30 to 40 lakhs to obtain the license of commercial pilot and 15 to 20 lakhs for the Type Rating. The duration of the commercial pilot course is three years. The training is really hard. It leaves no stone unturned. 70% marks is needed to pass DGCA but the pass marks of the company is much higher than that. You will not get any regular schedule in this job. You need to be good in Physics and mathematics to become a commercial pilot. These are compulsory for this course. Especially, Maths is highly required. You have to get at least 50% marks at Physics and Maths in 12th exam to apply for CPL (Commercial Pilot License) course. This course definitely has some strict stipulations but this is an exciting opportunity to become a commercial pilot. The candidate also have to be good at Geography. This job requires good mechanical aptitude skills. Commercial pilots use math on a daily basis. They have to practice basic arithmetic, algebra and calculus and geometry.
Height chart
Minimum height for a commercial pilot is 162.5 cms with correlated weight. Leg length must be between 99cms and 120 cms. The thigh length need to be 64 cms or less than that. The sitting height must be between 81.5 cms and 96 cms. The visual acuity must be 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other eye.

Obtaining Commercial Pilot License (CPL) is a step- by- step process. An aspirant is required to mandatorily study Physics and Maths after Class X in order to be able to obtain these License:
1) Student's Pilot License (SPL) : SPL can be obtained once an aspirant is 16 years of age and has passed Class X.
2) Private Pilot License (PPL): PPL can be obtained once an aspirant completed 40 hours of flying.
3) Commercial Pilot License (CPL): CPL can be obtained after one has completed minimum 200 hours of flying and is 18+ years of age.
Most CPL aspirants seek admission in a Flying club, wherein they are trained for the same. Some of the most sought after Flying Clubs in the country are IGRUA (Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Udaan Akademi), Patiala Aviation Club, National Flying Training Institute, etc. The admission to these is determined broadly by a Written Test, followed by a Personal Interview. Aspirants also need to undergo a Physical Test, for the Institutions to know that they are medically fit to fly.
