Students are required to successfully complete a 10+2 in any stream of subjects with an aggregate of 50 per cent marks in order to opt for a career as an IAS officer
•Bachelor
Candidates are required to enrol in a bachelor’s degree programme after successful completion of a 10+2 from a recognised board a min required qualification for a career as an IAS Officer is successful completion of a bachelors degree programme
•Qualify Union Public Service Commission Examination
After successful completion of a bachelors degree programme candidates become eligible for appearing in UPSC examination they r required to prioritise the areas of civil services they want to join after selection such as Income Tax Officer Indian Administrative Services Indian Foreign Services & Indian Police Services and other roles
Candidates who qualify the UPSC Mains examination are eligible for appearing in UPSC Prelims examination on qualifying prelims examination they are called for interviews final selection for Union Public Service Commission Examination is made through evaluation of candidates performance in the interviews
UPSC attempts - Candidates belonging to general category are eligible for 6 attempts till the age of 32 years candidates belonging to OBC category are eligible for nine attempts till the age of 35 years candidates belonging to SC or ST category can appear as many times he or she wants till the age of 37 years.
