Dear Aarav,

JEE Main percentile and normalisation process have been prescribed by NTA (National Testing Agency), the conducting authority of JEE Main. NTA is responsible for releasing JEE Main 2019 result along with the percentile score for the JEE Main exam which was held in two sessions - January and April.



Session'JEE Main 2019 January exam was held on multiple days and sessions with the difficulty level of the exam varying from day to day and from session to session. Thus, to ensure the equity in assessing the performance of all the test takers, the exam conducting authority introduced the percentile system based on normalization process. NTA uses the given below formula to calculate the percentile score of a candidate



The formula to calculate JEE Main percentile score of a candidate:



(100 * Number of candidates appeared in the 'Session' with RAW score EQUAL TO OR LESS than the candidate) / Total Number of Aspirant appeared in the 'Session'
