How to get admission in NIFT ?
NIFT Eligibility Criteria 2019
Candidates, who are interested in applying for the undergraduate design and fashion technology courses, can check the prescribed eligibility criteria of NIFT admission 2019 below:
Maximum age-23 years as on October 1, 2018. The upper age limit may be relaxed by a period of five years for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Differently Abled Person (PHP).
Educational qualification- Aspirants must have cleared the +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination.
NIFT Exam Pattern 2019
The written test of NIFT 2019, Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT) evaluate the test-takers’ knowledge, abilities and design aptitude. Candidates seeking B.Des. admissions appear for both- CAT and GAT, while those looking for admission in B.F.Tech programme take GAT only. Moreover, the candidates shortlisted after CAT and GAT had to appear for situation test as well.
Exam Pattern of NIFT 2019 Creative Ability Test (CAT) for Bachelor of Design
This test judges the intuitive ability, observation power in concept development and design ability of the test-takers. An important aspect is to evaluate the creative and innovative use of colour and illustration skills.

NIFT conducts entrance exams for two days so you have two chances over all .
the pattern and approach to NIFT is more important to get into NIFT ,You may join coaching centre or crack by preparing at home.
To prepare for the exam, you must ensure that you practice sketching on regular basis.
For Creative Ability Test (CAT), try making different sceneries. For example, a scene of community festival, a cobbler at workplace, traffic jam etc. Make yourself perfect in drawing human figures. Practice poster making. Don't practice with water colours because they aren't allowed there. Also get some knowledge about the colour schemes, like which colour depicts which emotion. You should buy a reference book, there are many books available in the market. Practice all of it's question papers. The CAT exam is of 3 hours in which 3–4 questions are asked, so practice the questions in the time limit. CAT has 50% weightage.
The General Ability Test (GAT) contains logical reasoning questions, english grammar, passage comprehension, maths (till class 10th), general knowledge questions. You need not to be stressed about GAT. It's quite easy. It's a 2 hour test and there's no negative marking. The reference books have covered all of these topics in a pretty good manner. And besides that keep yourself up to date with latest fashion trends, watch advertisement (you should know that which celebrity endorses which brand) and read newspaper. That would be all. GAT has 30% weightage.
When you'll clear these exams. You'll have to give the Situation Test . It's a 2 hour test and you will have to construct a 3-D model with the provided materials. You'll have to attempt 1 question out of 3–4 choices. For this exam, you need to be good at craft. Try making out different things from materials like paper cups, thermocol, clay, ice cream sticks, straws etc. You should be able to handle different types of paper (eg. crepe paper, pastel sheets, corrugated sheets etc) ,cardboard. You should also know a little bit of stitching. Watch diy videos, learn little bit of origami and paper cutting techniques. All these things will help. Situation test has 20% weightage.
