On the basis of AIR, the exam conducting authority will prepare NEET merit list 2020 indicating the rank-wise names of candidates who have qualified the exam. The merit list will be forwarded to Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for conducting neet 2020 counselling for 15% AIQ, seats in deemed/central universities, ESIC, AFMS and central pool seats.

While the remaining 85% state quota seats in government colleges will be allotted by respective state counselling authorities based on the scores and rank secured in NEET 2020 examination. The state counselling body will also be responsible for granting admission to private medical/dental colleges located in a particular state.

The fee In private Colleges will be higher than that in government medical Colleges.

Admission in private medical colleges through NEET - It is a well-known fact that the maximum number of NEET qualified aspirants will seek an MBBS seat in private medical colleges of the country. NTA is expected to release the NEET 2020 results anytime soon on or before October 12 at ntaneet.nic.in. In such a scenario, getting information about admission in private medical colleges through NEET becomes crucial. All the private medical colleges come under the regulation of State counselling authority of the state in which they are located. For example, if a private medical or dental college is located in Chennai, the State Authority of Tamil Nadu will be responsible for the counselling process. MCC does not conduct the admission process for private medical colleges. Also, note that all seats in private colleges are generally filled on the basis of NEET All India Rank (AIR). Further, all seats in private colleges are open to all candidates, irrespective of the category they belong to. The private colleges also offer seats to Non-Resident Indians (NRI Quota). There are several minority institutions as well which are run by trusts which will grant admission to medical aspirants
