Hello Kauseka,
Thanks for reaching us to prepare for NTSE stage 1, you should go through the state syllabus of 8th, 9th and 10th classes. For stage 2, I would suggest you stick to the NCERT books (again of 8th, 9th and 10th classes). I personally did not require any other reference material.
Be very thorough, don't skip anything, not even the descriptive text below images. Remember the labels on diagrams. Do not neglect Social Science as it constitutes a large part of the paper. Practice MAT from previous year papers; McGraw Hill is also good for the same. Try to increase your speed as you go along. As the test now includes English as a compulsory paper, improve your language if you feel that you're lacking (even though it's only for a qualifying score).
Be calm. Among all the national level exams out there, NTSE is one of the easier ones. Prepare well in advance. Keep a cool head. Write well.
Hello,
National Talent Search Examination NTSE is a national level exam conducted by National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) for awarding scholarships.
It is a two-tier exam where stage 1 is conducted by the States/UTs and stage 2 exam is conducted at national level by NCERT.
For preparation, you must have good understanding of the concepts. Look for the pattern of questions asked in the previous exams, make your own studying criteria and manage time accordingly.
You should have complete understanding of topics from your NCERT books only. The complete syllabus of Science and Mathematics of Class 9 and 10 as per NCERT curriculum along with General Science completes the NTSE syllabus. English literature section is qualifying in nature and Social science upto grade 10 is asked in the exam.
