Hi.

Ranks for examinations are awarded on the basis of total marks obtained by the student in the exam. Highest marks will be awarded rank 1, second highest will be given rank 2 and so on...

However, there is an All India Rank that can be used to avail seats under All India Quota and all students irrespective of the category are awarded this rank provided they qualify the exam. Now, if a candidate belongs to a reservation category then another Category Rank is released based on the pool of students belonging to that category and will be used when availing seat under Category Reservation.

I hope this answers your query.
