Hello Siddhesh,
BITS offers an M.E. degree and not M.Tech degree in Micro-electronics, Embedded systems and Manufacturing systems. It is good for those who are interested to pursue PhD postmasters and also for those who are looking for placements.
The previous placement statistics show about 100% of students placed from this branch, but from 2017, after an increase in the batch strength, no concrete data is available about the placements. Still, there is an option of practice school where you can convert the internships. Everything majorly depends on your performance in the semesters.
Getting into Microelectronics here can be a good option. The curriculum is well - designed. It is rigid enough to ensure that students get to learn the most important concepts and explore the cadence lab.
Professors you will come across are well qualified. Most of them have doctorate degrees from the top universities. In Communication also you will meet a few good professors.
More options are available to choose as Elective subjects.
You will have a lot of companies coming for Practice School (Internship program) and placements in Microelectronics. Placements in Communication and Embedded branch are good as well. Top VLSI MNCs like Intel, Qualcomm offers a very good package with Nvidia in the third place.
For Mechanical and Manufacturing Systems Engineering, the average package offered varies between 7 to 8 lakhs. Highest was 11.5 lakhs and the lowest was 4.5 lakhs. You can get opportunities in core Mechanical, core Manufacturing, non-core companies like Axis bank or trading companies and teaching jobs in teaching institutes will offer up to 9 lakhs.
Ultimately you should choose the branch by self-interest.
You can be optimistic after a ME degree from BITS as it stands in a good rank among the premier institutes like IITs, NITs. So opportunities are plenty provided you put in the right effort for the three semesters as the final semester is usually Practice School or on-campus thesis or off-campus thesis.
For any more queries you can revert back.
All the best and Thank you.
