There are only 5 categories of Children/Widow category and is also stated in their official website.

The 5 categories of Children/Widow of eligible Armed Forces Personnel are listed below and a 5% of seats in each course are allocated to them. The admission, according to Academic Council, has to be made in the following order of priority,

1. Widows/Wards of Defence personnel killed in action;
2. Wards of serving personnel and ex-servicemen disabled in action;
3. Widows/Wards of Defence personnel who died in peace time with death attributable to military service;
4. Wards of Defence personnel disabled in peace time with disability attributable to the military service; and
5. Wards of Ex-servicemen personnel and serving personnel including personnel of police forces who are in receipt of Gallantry Awards;

Category 5 is the Gallantry Awards category and include the following awards,

1. Param Vir Chakra,
2. Ashok Chakra,
3. Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal,
4. Maha Vir Chakra,
5. Kirti Chakra,
6. Uttam Yudh Seva Medal,
7. Vir Chakra, Shaurya Chakra,
8. Yudh Seva Medal ,
9. Sena, Nau Sena,- Vayusena Medal,
10. President's Police Medal for Gallantry,
11. Police Medal for Gallantry

The following authorities are the competent authorities to issue education concession certificates under CW category,

1. Secretary, Kendriya, Sainik Board, Delhi
2. Secretary, RajyaZilaSainik Board
3. Officer-in-Charge, Records Office
4. 1st class Stipendiary Magistrate
5. Ministry of Home Affairs (for Police personnel in receipt of Gallantry Awards)
