Candidates would be divided into 3 categories:

  1. Keralite
  2. Non-Keralite(Category 1)
  3. Non-Keralite(Category 2)

Keralite

The candidate needs to be born in Kerala. He/She must possess domicile cerificate of Kerala. Wards of IAS officer, who are not born in Kerala, will be distinguished as ‘Deemed Keralites’. These applicants will be entitled to Communal/Special Reservation and PwD relaxation.

Dear Abhirami, Any citizen of India can apply for KEAM. Students will be categorised as Keralite, Non Keralite Category I and Non Keralite Category II.

  • Candidates of Keralite origin are considered as Keralites.
  • Non Keralite Category I is for those candidates who are not from Kerala but have studied 10+2 in Kerala and their parents work in Central Govt. or Defense services posted in Kerala. Srudents who have studied 10+2 in Kerala because their parents have been working in Kerala for atleast 2 years for State Govt. also come under this category.  Those students who have studied atleast 5 years out of 12 years of study or atleast studied from Class VIII to XII though they arent from Kerala also fall under this category.
  • The rest of the candidates fall under Non Keralite Category II and are eligible for admission into Government and Management Quota of B.Tech programmes offered by Govt. Controlled self financing colleges and private self financing colleges.

So you will come under Non Keralite Category II. You will have to submit the certificate of completion of highest qualification as a proof of nativity.
