Each year, in February and August, the test is conducted to select Class-I Officers for Flying and Ground Duties (Technical and Non-Technical). Candidates can apply for the AFCAT whether they are male or female.
Through the AFCAT exam candidates are recruited in the Indian Air Force for the following branches-

Indian Air Force conducted AFCAT twice a year in February and September for the recruitment of class 1 gazetted officer in flying/ground duty(technical and non-technical branch), the exam is conducted in two stages - the written test is followed by SSB interview conducted by air force selection board,
in case of flying branch the eligibility criteria is passed 10+2 from a recognized board securing 50% marks in physics and mathematics, along with bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university securing 60% aggregate ,
In case of ground duty(non-technical branch) , candidates who have passed 10+2 from a recognized board and graduation in any discipline from a recognized university securing 60% aggregate are eligible to apply ,
