According to TNEA, students other than Tamil Nadu can appear for Engineering counselling which is being conducted by the government.  While registering for TNEA, students usually encounter a weird section called EMIS number.  This usually confuses the students, even the native ones.

EMIS:

Under the Educational Management Information System(EMIS), every students is assigned a unique 8-digit number which the students can claim from the school in which they have studied.  EMIS is just a database type of thing, which includes individual data of students, their educational records, government subsidies provided etc.

So, kindly please visit the school where you have studied and ask for your EMIS number to the respective co-ordinator.
