I am giving engineering entrances but I am very fond of Economics. What is the scope of economics in academic as well as job sector?
Tips for the exam would mainly be to ensure that you attempt a question only if you are sure of it. This is because negative marking could cost you.
Cut offs differ based on number of applications and difficulty of the paper. However, 75% seems to be a benchmark in the General Category.
Hi Ananjan,
That's great! Economics is a well-sought after discipline to study.
Economics courses are comprehensive. Delhi University is sought after to study Economics and you must apply there if you are interested.
As for jobs,
The prospects for economics graduates are quite a few in both private and public sectors.
In the government sector, the Indian Economic Services, jobs in Reserve Bank of India, PSUs and other public sector banks are sought after.
Private sector offers jobs for economic graduates in private banks, MNCs, BPOs, KPOs, Business journals, and newspapers.
Hope this helps,
All the best!
