For JEE Mains , the 75% criterion applies only if you aim to take admission in NITs, IIITs or GFTIs.

If you just want to write the JEE Mains and seek admission to other private colleges or state-level institutes, the 75% rule does not apply.

Improvement Exam: If you want admission to NITs, IIITs or GFTIs, consider appearing for the board improvement exam to improve your 12th percentage.

You need to achieve at least 75% (65% for SC/ST) in the improvement exam.

Focus on JEE Main Score:

Some state engineering colleges and private institutes accept JEE Main scores irrespective of your 12th percentage.

Focus on securing a good rank in JEE Main to broaden your opportunities.

Alternative Pathways:

Consider private universities like Amity, Manipal, or SRM, which conduct their entrance exams and have flexible eligibility criteria.

Look for state-level entrance exams like MHT CET, WBJEE or others where the 75% rule may not apply.

If you are a JEE dropper and haven't scored 75% in your board exams, you may still be eligible for JEE Main, but there are some important points to consider:

1. JEE Main Eligibility : The 75% criteria (or being in the top 20 percentile of your respective board) is only applicable to get admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. However, this is not a requirement for appearing in JEE Main itself. You can still appear for JEE Main in 2025 if you meet the other criteria, such as having studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in 12th.
   
   

2. Admission to IITs : To get admission to IITs, the 75% eligibility or top 20 percentile rule applies. Since you did not meet the 75% requirement, you might not be eligible for IITs unless you meet the percentile criteria or get a very high JEE Main rank.
