See for most of the universities in India there are no such restriction of having economics as a subject in your 10+2. But in many universities its required as well as many university also offers the course if you have mathematics in your 10+2. So this are entirely dependent on the university you wish to take admission in.
If you ask for my opinnion then I would suggest you to keep the economics in your 10+2 curriculum this is because you will get the basics of the subject in your 10+2 which will help you laterwards in the career. Also if there are any university which have restriction then also there will be no problem regarding your admission to the course. Thus I would recommend you to take economics as subject in 10+2 if you want to pursue a career in economics in future.
